The phasor diagram for a series RLC circuit is produced by combining together the three individual phasors above and adding these voltages vectorially. Since the current flowing through the circuit is common to all three circuit elements we can use this as the reference vector with the three voltage vectors drawn relative to this at their corresponding angles.
An RLC circuit is an electrical circuit consisting of a resistor (R), an inductor (L), and a capacitor (C), connected in series or in parallel. The name of the circuit is derived from the letters that are used to denote the constituent components of this circuit, where the sequence of the components may vary from RLC.
The figure below shows the phasor diagram of series RLC circuit. For drawing the phasor diagram for RLC series circuit, the current is taken as reference because, in series circuit the current in each element remains the same and the corresponding voltage vectors for each component are drawn in reference to common current vector.
RLC Series Circuit The RLC Series Circuit is defined as when a pure resistance of R ohms, a pure inductance of L Henry and a pure capacitance of C farads are connected together in series combination with each other. As all the three elements are connected in series so, the current flowing in each element of the circuit will be same as the total current I flowing in the circuit.

Phasor Diagram of Inductive Series RLC Circuit We normally take the direction of the circuit current as the reference axis of the diagram. The voltage drop across the resistance will have the same phase as that circuit current. The voltage drop across the inductive reactance will be perpendicularly upward on the current axis.
RLC Series circuit contains a resistor, capacitor, and inductor in series combination across an alternating current source. The behavior of components can be explained by phasor diagrams, impedance and voltage triangles.
RLC Circuit: A RLC circuit as the name implies will consist of a Resistor, Capacitor and Inductor connected in series or parallel. The circuit forms an Oscillator circuit which is very commonly used in Radio receivers and televisions. It is also very commonly used as damper circuits in analog applications.
One way to visualize the behavior of the RLC series circuit is with the phasor diagram shown in the illustration above. The phasor diagram shown is at a frequency where the inductive reactance is greater than that of the capacitive reactance. This would occur at a frequency above the resonant frequency.
